Saqqara Sample has been named the local winner of the Star Spangled Singoff, a competition that searched for standout performances of the national anthem in East Texas.

Sample has moved on to the regional round of the competition.

The winner of the national contest will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Nashville, Tennessee, to professionally record their rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" that will be aired across the country.
