A baby was safely surrendered at a Safe Haven Baby Box located at a fire station in The Woodlands, providing a secure and anonymous option for the infant.

THE WOODLANDS, Texas (KTRK) -- Authorities in The Woodlands say a "baby is safe because someone chose a secure and legal option" when a baby was surrendered in a safe haven location at a fire station.

On Monday, the officials said a baby was safely surrendered by using The Woodlands Township Safe Haven Baby Box at Fire Station 6.

Officials said the box provides a secure, anonymous option for the legal surrender of a baby.
