One of Texas' most recognizable storytellers is preparing to sign off after nearly six decades behind the microphone, and the Big Spring community is invited to help celebrate his remarkable career.
Tumbleweed Smith will air his final edition of The Sound of Texas on Friday, July 31, marking the end of a broadcasting career that has highlighted the people, places and stories that define the Lone Star State.
Listeners can hear Smith's farewell broadcast at 7:46 a.m. on AM 1490, and again at 8:12 a.m. on 95. 7 FM. Following the broadcast, KBest Media will host a community celebration at 11:30 a.m. at its studios, located at 608 Johnson Street in Big Spring.
