Around 7:40 p.m. Friday, an officer saw black smoke and flames estimated to be 20 feet high coming from a property several streets away and believed it to be a structure fire, according to a press release issued by Police Chief Joe Keegan.
When the officer approached the area to investigate further, two dogs ran toward him and crawled through a pipe fence in "an apparent attempt" to attack him, Keegan said.
