Texas leaders are weighing new rules for data centers as hundreds of projects line up to connect to the ERCOT power grid, raising concerns about reliability, neighborhood impacts and who pays for costly upgrades.
Gov. Greg Abbott is pushing protections to keep those costs off residential customers while ERCOT moves to a new "batch" review process to separate serious projects from speculative requests.
