ABILENE, Texas - A single-family home in the 1600 block of North 2nd Street was destroyed by a residential structure fire Thursday evening, prompting a second-alarm response from the Abilene Fire Department.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at approximately 9:08 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2026. Battalion 1 arrived first and reported heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof of the structure.
Ladder 1 conducted a quick search of the home while Engine 1 began applying water.
