Mortgage rates climbed to their highest level in more than a year this week, Freddie Mac reported Thursday.

By the numbers: The average rate for a 30-year fixed mortgage rose to 6. 71%, up from 6. 66% last week, according to Freddie Mac's latest Primary Mortgage Market Survey.

It was the highest average rate since July 31, 2025, when the 30-year mortgage rate reached 6. 72%.
