PORT ARTHUR, Texas - A Port Arthur ISD football player says an assistant coach paddled him three times after he missed school and wore the wrong color pants to practice, raising questions from his family about discipline and parental consent.

Noah Lopez, who attends Memorial High School in Port Arthur ISD, told KPRC, KSAT's sister station in Houston, that the punishment happened less than a month after he joined the team.

Noah said he had missed school because he did not have a ride after his mother was seriously injured in a crash.
