TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - A nonprofit called The Reel Hope Project is using the power of storytelling to help foster kids find forever families, including children right here in East Texas."I hope the shots we take, the decisions we make, the questions we ask will resonate with a family and really speak into them. And they go, 'that's our kid,'" videographer Tim Dumais says.
More than 400,000 children are in foster care in the United States, with 19,000+ teens aging out each year without ever finding a family.
Nowhere is that need more concentrated than right here in Texas."Texas has the most fostered kids in the nation. So for The Reel Hope Project, this is sort of ground zero, I think, for what they want to do and are striving to do," Dumais says.
