The partner of a 45-year-old powerline technician student who died during on-campus training is suing Southwest Texas College and its president, alleging negligence in his death.

Marisol Flores, Enrique "Q" Serna's partner of eight years, filed the lawsuit July 9 against the college and president Hector Gonzales.

The petition seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million.
