GATESVILLE, Texas (KWTX) - A little more than three months after a fire destroyed the Gatesville Messenger's longtime office in the downtown square, the nearly 150-year-old newspaper is back and operating out of Gatesville Primary School.
Saturday, the Messenger's new ownership invited the community to their new location for a free meet and greet, complete with family friendly activities and a tour of their new building."It's kind of like a proud papa moment, proud dad moment where we weren't sure what we were going to have. We knew what our vision was going to be. It's coming to fruition. It's been a lot of long days, a lot of work, but for the most part, it's just sitting back and taking a breather and enjoying the moment that we have," said David Morris, publisher and COO.
While most of their archives were lost with the fire, they've still got a few old editions, as well as bricks from their original building on display in the office.
