LEAGUE CITY, Texas - A Galveston County jury has sentenced a Guatemalan man to 35 years in prison after finding him guilty of murdering his roommate and partner during a brutal stabbing in League City last year.

Rigoberto Argueta-Sontay was convicted Thursday in connection with the July 2025 killing of Alberto Guzman Brito at a home in the 2800 block of Brookmist Lane, according to the Galveston County Criminal District Attorney's Office.

League City police officers responded to reports of a stabbing and found Guzman Brito suffering from multiple stab wounds to his torso and face, a severe neck wound and a large abdominal injury.
