The Kerrville Flags of Honor event at River Star Park will kick off Friday morning at 8:45 a.m. with a ceremony honoring the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks that destroyed the World Trade Center towers in New York City, damaged the Pentagon and brought down a fourth hijacked plane in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

This will be the fourth year Gunny's Warriors has sponsored the ceremony.

"The Flags of Honor event was started to honor and thank the community for their support of our non-profit. The first two years it was sponsored by the national organization, but last year we decided to do it ourselves and again this year," said Jan Pieraccini, co-founder with her husband Mike of Gunny's Warriors.
