Beyonc, Kelly Rowland and Tina Knowles were in Houston to mark the opening of the Knowles-Rowland House, a new permanent supportive housing facility built in partnership with Bread of Life, Inc. Bread of Life says the original center was built in 1999 with Tina Knowles-Lawson and Mathew Knowles, but it was destroyed in a fire in March 2021. The newly rebuilt facility is now a three-story building with 31 units for adults, including chronically unhoused people.
Camille Chappell, Bread of Life's vice president of programs and partnerships, said the goal goes beyond providing a place to sleep.
"We will have mental health access resources, benefits enrollment, housing and hygiene resources, life skill training and so much more... the goal is to provide as much wrap-around services as possible," Chappell said.
