LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - The USDA's Summer Food Service Program is now available at the YWCA of Lubbock, providing free meals to children and teens in the area.

The program runs Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Children and teens 18 and under are eligible, as are enrolled students with disabilities up to age 21. Callie Bryant with the YWCA of Lubbock said the organization recognized a need in the community."We saw a need within the Lubbock community and wanted to step up and say we want to fill that for our community," Bryant said.

"We want to make sure that kids aren't going home hungry and we want to be a centralized spot."Bryant said the meals are free and healthy, and that the program offers more than just food."Joy," Bryant said, describing what she sees most when children come in.
