LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - A suspect has been charged in connection with a death investigation by the Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit.

At 6 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27, Lubbock police were called for a report of a domestic disturbance at a home near 64th and Ave. S. Upon arrival, officers found 74-year-old Justo Mendez dead at the scene prompting the investigation to be turned over to Lubbock Metro.

Investigators believe it appears there was an altercation between Mendez and his son, 36-year-old Justo Mendez Jr. Mendez Jr. was arrested by the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office and charged with aggravated assault involving family violence.
