Sul Ross State University earns full NCAA DII membership News Staff Wed, 07/15/2026 - 21:04 Body Sul Ross State University has officially earned full membership in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II, marking the successful completion of a three-year provisional membership process and a historic milestone for Lobo Athletics.

The NCAA notified the university on July 10 that Sul Ross State had satisfi ed all requirements for full DII membership, completing a transition that began in 2023 when the university accepted an invitation to join the Lone Star Conference.

With full membership, Sul Ross State's studentathletes are now eligible to compete for national championships, administrators and coaches become eligible to serve on NCAA committees that help shape policy and governance, and the university becomes eligible to apply for a variety of grants and professional development opportunities available exclusively to active member institutions.
