The U.S. 87 bridge over Interstate 20 in Big Spring is expected to be fully finished Thursday, or at the latest, Friday, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

The long-awaited reopening comes as the project moves ahead of schedule, with crews now in the final stages of work.

TxDOT Abilene District Public Information Officer Alaisha Montanez says crews are wrapping up striping and final preparations, with the latest update coming directly from TxDOT's Big Spring area office and the project contractor.
