Uvalde County veterans facing an immediate financial emergency can apply for one-time help with rent, mortgage and utility costs beginning Sept. 1 through a $300,000 grant awarded to the Community Council of South Central Texas.

The Texas Veterans Commission grant will fund CCSCT's Veterans Financial Assistance Program through Aug. 31, 2027, or until the money runs out.

The program assists eligible veterans, their dependents and surviving spouses with short-term financial emergencies.
