The city of New Braunfels has announced on social media that the Comal River is reopening for recreation at 3 p.m. on Friday following days of storms in the Hill Country.

However, lifeguards will not be on duty Friday due to the late opening, but will resume normal operations at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

"City staff has removed debris and the water clarity is improving daily," the post states.
