Uvalde County Commissioner Roy M. Kothmann proposed lowering commissioner pay to $25,000, down by $7,407. 45 from their current salary of $32,407. 45, at a July 8 budget workshop.

Kothmann, the newest member of the governing body with about 19 months experience, is a retired bank executive.

He likened commissioners to governing board members, who generally receive honorarium pay per meeting.
