The Supreme Court handed the Trump administration a victory Tuesday in a closely watched immigration case dealing with the government's power over green card holders accused of crimes.

The 6-3 decision centered on Muk Choi Lau, a lawful permanent resident who was charged with trademark counterfeiting before traveling abroad.

When Lau returned to the United States, immigration officials did not formally admit him into the country.
