As I was digging through the archives this week, I found a headline story and accompanying photograph from July 21, 1976, about the Gillespie County Fair and Festivals Association hosting the very first sanctioned tractor pull at the Gillespie County Fair Grounds in Fredericksburg.

As luck would have it, my grandparents, Floyd Marvin Burgess and Ruby Burgess, thought that would be a fun event to take me to.

I had a blast as we sat in the grandstands, which were still very new in 1976.
