(KGNS) - The City of Laredo issued a statement on Saturday, July 18, reaffirming its commitment to border security and the protection of the Rio Grande, pushing back against public criticism of how it handled a federal border infrastructure review.

City officials said the actions taken throughout the review process were guided by a policy adopted by the Laredo City Council - not by any single elected or appointed official.
