KILGORE, Texas (KLTV) - Kilgore College is hosting a summer program designed to help boost high school students who are looking to be first generation college students.
The program, Upward Bound, aims to help the ninth through twelfth grade students, preparing them for the opportunity to go to college or enter a vocational program."When my mom had first told me about it, I thought it was an amazing opportunity," Natalie Amaya, a senior from Pine Tree High School said.
"My parents haven't been to college, my grandparents haven't been to college, and it's just something that has never been a choice for me. It's always, I will go to college."Amaya said the opportunity to connect with educators for advice is more than helpful.
