A major thoroughfare in the city - Dietz Elkhorn Road - is about to get a facelift, and city officials want everyone to know about it.

The city is hosting an open house 4-6 p.m. July 29 to spell out reconstruction of a 1. 2-mile stretch of the road between Fair Oaks Parkway and FM 3351. The session is at the Police Department Training Room, 7286 Dietz Elkhorn.

Construction is expected to begin in August and take 12 to 15 months to complete, officials said.
