The Comal County Commissioners Court began the budgeting process for fiscal year 2027 on Thursday, July 9, as department heads presented their requests to the court.

The total in requests amounted to $186,108,499 - a 2. 9% increase from last year's adopted budget, County Judge Kristen Hoyt said.

A breakdown by department showed more than 50% of requests were designated for public safety, the justice system and corrections and rehabilitation, while the next largest category was infrastructure and environmental services.
