The Big Spring City Council will meet Thursday evening at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers, where members are expected to consider two resolutions involving economic development and legal representation tied to water contamination claims.

One item on the agenda would support the nomination of certain census tracts within the city for possible federal Opportunity Zone designation, a program that could bring tax incentives aimed at encouraging private investment in selected areas.

Council members will also consider a resolution authorizing the city to work with the law firms Baron & Budd, P.C. and Cossich, Sumich, Parsiola & Taylor LLC to assist with nationwide PFAS settlement claims involving drinking water contamination.
