LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) - A free 10-week after-school program designed to build character through sports and teamwork kicked off Tuesday for East Texas students in second through sixth grade.

Presented by Buckner International in partnership with the Wellspring Foundation, the program is hosted at First Baptist Church in Longview."We use character traits such as respect, kindness, empathy," said Kylie Pepper, the youth development supervisor for the program.

Each week, the program is expected to teach children a new trait using the implementation of sports and how they can work in the respective character trait using bible study and STEM activities.
