San Antonio Independent School District's Board of Trustees on Monday unanimously approved Toni Thompson to take over as the district's interim superintendent.

Previously serving as SAISD's chief of staff, Thompson will replace outgoing Superintendent Jaimie Aquino, who announced his retirement earlier this year.
