MIDLAND, Texas (KOSA) - Counseling services are being offered at no cost to people affected by the June 12 mass shooting in Midland after a local nonprofit received funding to support recovery efforts.

Centers for Children and Families announced Wednesday it received funding from the Abell-Hanger Foundation to provide free counseling services to anyone directly or indirectly impacted by the shooting.

According to the organization, the funding will allow counselors to respond immediately to the emotional and mental health needs of the community while also providing support for the long-term healing process."This tragedy has deeply impacted Midland, and we want every person touched by it to know support is available," Centers for Children and Families CEO Kristi Edwards said in a statement.
