Brownsville's Public Utilities Board recently announced it's developing a project that will recycle wastewater back into the potable water supply.
The city-owned utility is using state and federal funding to reuse up to 8 million gallons effluent per day that normally is dumped into San Martin Lake and the Gulf of Mexico.
Instead it will flow into Resaca de la Guerra, then redrawn into the potable water filtration and treatment system.
