Fredericksburg High School junior Jose Ruiz punched his ticket to the UIL Class 4A State Cross Country Meet after running a personal-best time at the Region IV-4A meet Monday, Oct. 26, at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Ruiz finished 14th overall in the 5K with a time of 16:29. 85 to earn an individual berth at the state meet.

"We knew it would take a fast time to qualify as an individual," FHS boys cross country coach Jason Roemer said.
