Bandera County landowners, ranchers and agricultural producers will have an opportunity later this month to learn about several emerging pest threats affecting the region.
The Bandera County office of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host a Bandera County Pest Update program June 23 at Mansfield Park Rec Hall, 2886 Texas 16 N. Registration begins at 1:45 p.m., with the program scheduled from 2 to 5 p.m. The event will feature a presentation on the New World screwworm, followed by a pasture walk and discussions on pasture mealybugs and desert termites.
According to AgriLife Extension officials, pasture mealybugs have recently been detected in Bandera County and surrounding areas.
