TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Two Smith County women are behind bars after the Smith County Sheriff's Office said they stopped taking care of dogs on their property, which were found dead or severely malnourished.

Adrecia Roy, 25, and Miranda Hawkins, 50, were held at the Smith County Jail on respective $200,000 bonds for charges of cruelty to non-livestock animals by killing or causing serious bodily injury, according to jail records.

On June 11, Smith County deputies responded to the 4000 block of County Road 390 after the sheriff's office received a report of a dead dog found in a metal crate on the property.
