COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - A Texas A&M AgriLife expert is urging gardeners to think "CPR" when it comes to protecting plants during the summer heat.

Lisa Whittlesey said the acronym stands for Cover, Plant selection, and Recovery - a framework she said can help plants survive high temperatures."Just remember CPR," said Whittlesey.

"This is actually a shade cover that you can purchase and you can put draped over your plants. You don't want it touching your plants, but it will give it a little protection from the intense heat, and some of your plants may benefit from that."She also suggests using mulch.
