LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Texas Tech Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt said the school supports quarterback Brendan Sorsby's continued recovery and is not involved in the lawsuit that led to a court ruling affecting his eligibility.

In a statement, Hocutt said Sorsby has not played a down for the Red Raiders and will miss the first two games of the 2026 season under the terms of the ruling.

Hocutt said Texas Tech will evaluate Sorsby's "recovery, compliance and readiness" going forward under a clinical and compliance plan the school put in place before the ruling.
