Law enforcement to ramp up speed limit enforcement during 'Operation Slowdown,' TxDOT says

Law enforcement across Texas will increase speed limit enforcement during 'Operation Slowdown,' a TxDOT initiative launched to promote road safety and reduce speeding-related incidents.

Law enforcement in the Lone Star State will increase its presence on roads and enforce speed limits more strictly during "Operation Slowdown," according to TxDOT.

Operation Slowdown, launched on July 18 along with the "Be Safe. Drive Smart." speeding awareness campaign, urges drivers to slow down and drive to conditions to help save lives, TxDOT says.

Transportation officials said they are working with Texas law enforcement agencies across the state to step up enforcement of speed limits through Aug. 2, 2026.
