A dangerous parasite has made a return to Texas and federal, state and local officials are trying to halt its advance to other areas of the state.
On Thursday, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott lauded announcement of federal grants to help stall the spread of the New World screwworm to more of the Lone Star State.
The United States Department of Agriculture announced about $105 million for 40 projects nationwide, including several Texas universities and research institutions, to better detect, control and eradicate New World screwworm.
