Authorities discovered homemade explosives last week on a Wimberley property where a 40-year-old man who recently drowned in Canyon Lake used to live.

The body of an adult male, later identified as Robert Allen Chapman of Wimberley, was located on Aug. 30 near the shoreline of Canyon Lake, The Herald-Zeitung previously reported.

Then at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, the Hays County Combined Emergency Communications Center (CECC) received a call about the discovery of suspected military-type and homemade explosive material on the property in the 2700 block of Fischer Store Road, according to a Hays County media release.
