OVERTON, Texas (KLTV) - A prison dog training program in Rusk County is expanding its mission, giving rescued dogs the opportunity to become service animals while providing incarcerated men with a renewed sense of purpose.

The Rusk County Second Chance Initiative has helped 52 rescue dogs find permanent homes since launching three years ago.

Now, through a new program called the Fletcher Project, select dogs will receive specialized training to become service animals."Veterans give a lot for us," Fletcher said.
