Special to the Bulletin The Fredericksburg Summer Music Institute will conclude its five-day series of free performances with a symphonic finale concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at St. Joseph's Halle, 212 W. San Antonio St. The concert will feature violinist Fiona Shea performing Johannes Brahms' Violin Concerto, Antonn Dvork's "Festival March," Alexander Borodin's "Polovtsian Dances" and selections from "The Sound of Music." "I am looking forward to this concert and to be able to work with such a group of directors and students," Shea said in a news release.
"One of my favorite experiences is when I feel the energy of the orchestra, and especially the enthusiasm of the younger players." Shea has appeared as a concerto soloist with orchestras across Texas and the United States.
She won the grand prize in the 2025 Young Texas Artist Competition, earned third place in the 2024 Ann and Charles Eisemann International Young Artists Competition and received the 2022 Dorothy DeLay Fellowship at the Aspen Music Festival and School.
