LIVINGSTON, Texas (KTRE) - Organizers of the Audrii Cunningham Memorial Scholarship are inviting Polk County residents to take part in its second annual racquetball tournament to raise funds for scholarships benefiting local students."This is our way of keeping Audrii's legacy alive," said Cheyenne Lusk, adding the group hopes the effort also keeps attention on child advocacy and student safety.
Lusk said the scholarship was created to honor Audrey Cunningham, a Livingston student whose disappearance deeply affected the community."Sometimes, we kind of feel like, as a community, we failed her a little bit," Lusk said.
Vice President Jacob Leggett said the scholarships are intended to help students pursue a range of career paths, including trade programs such as welding school, not only traditional college degrees.".
