After 16 months of planning from the transportation and construction services department, the New Braunfels City Council was presented with the Northwest Park master plan on Oct. 26, Northwest park is a 145-acre tract acquired by the city in 2024 using $8 million from the Economic Development Corporation, according to the city's website.

The park sits along FM 1102, surrounded by the Wasser Ranch, Arroyo Verde and Cloud Country subdivisions, The Herald-Zeitung previously reported.

As the city's population has grown, there has been more demand for park space, but less and less available land, Capital Projects Manager Bernadette Faust said.
