Local hay producers are encouraged to participate in the 2026 Comal County Fair Hay Show, which will take place Sept. 24 through 27, according to a press release.
Participants can submit entries until Sept. 1, and hay samples must be delivered to the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Comal County office, located at 325 Resource Drive, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 12 p.m., and 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Each sample must be submitted as follows: square bale - three flakes, at least 8 inches wide - or round bale - the size of a carton of paper, 12 inches wide by 18 inches long by 9 inches high - filled, stuffed and tied on the outside of the box with at least three strands of string, going both ways.
Untied samples will be disqualified, the release stated, and samples will be categorized as follows: Bermudagrass, other warm-season perennial grass, warm-season annual grass, cool-season grass and legumes.
