Music filled the air early Saturday morning at Fischer Park as community members gathered to watch the band Soul Sessions perform, kicking off the 2026 New Braunfels Juneteenth celebration.

The New Braunfels MLK Association hosted the annual event in collaboration with the city of New Braunfels.

In addition to live music, celebration attendees could learn more about the holiday through a story walk featuring the book "Juneteenth Is" by Natasha Tripplett.
