Comment0WACO, Texas (KWTX) - U.S. immigration authorities are warning foreign influencers planning to attend the 2026 FIFA World Cup that creating monetized social media content while in the country on a tourist visa is illegal, according to El Pas.

El Pas, a reputable news publication based in Madrid, Spain, reports U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Department of Homeland Security said entering the United States "with the sole purpose of creating content (as an influencer), thereby generating earnings" is considered work and requires the proper visa.

"Their own videos give them away," the source said, alluding to dozens of foreign creators who have even documented how they obtained a visa at a U.S. embassy and then traveled to various U.S. cities to film content for their YouTube channels and digital platforms.
