FORT HOOD, Texas (KWTX) - The Operation Iraqi Freedom Dining Facility at Fort Hood reopened after closing for nearly two months due to a pest infestation.

The facility closed on July 27 after videos of cockroaches in the kitchen were posted on social media that same day.

What caused the infestationChontrelle Strudivant, installation food program manager at Fort Hood, explained what led to the problem."We found a leak underneath the facility, coupled with the high temperatures in July and the number one source which is food, that increased a pest infestation in the OIF Dining Facility," Strudivant said.
