KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) - Changing the names of military installations like Fort Hood in 2023 cost over $60 million combined for all the installations that were changed.

Larry Romo, LULAC national vice president for veterans and a naming commissioner, said Congress made that money available for the project."The key is, that Congress actually appropriated that money in the National Defense Authorization Act. So, it was appropriated for the administration to execute that," Romo said.

That is not what happened when the names were reverted back last year."In Executive Actions what happens is, the President orders the Department of Defense to pull the money out of other funds that were technically not authorized by Congress and appropriated. So, they just pulled the money out of like, administrative funds and other areas. That's how they did that money," Romo said.
