CONCAN, Texas - After torrential rain in July caused flooding in the Frio River, waters have receded just in time to offer clear, cool, and well-flowing river conditions for Labor Day visitors.

The Frio River rose nearly 17 feet in Concan between July 14 and July 16.

Brett Rimkus, a Frio River first responder and flood advisor, said the river typically returns to normal within 24 hours, but he and the locals are amazed that the river has continued to have above-average flow for over a month.
